Project history: Built under 3rd Supplementary programme of 1937. Intended for operations in inshore waters and river mouths and had shallow draught.
Modernizations: 1943 - 1944, both: - 2 x 2 - 25/60; + 2 x 3 - 25/60 96-shiki, 3 x 1 - 25/60 96-shiki, 2 DCT, presumably radar
Naval service: Hashidate was sunk 22.5.1944 by US submarine Picuda off Pratas Island. Uji was damaged 10.4.1945 on a mine, in 1945 she has surrendered to Allies at Shanghai and was transferred to China.
