Project history: Under the FY1925 program the USA built 6 river gunboats for service on Yangtze river in China for protection of American interests.
Modernizations: 1941, Oahu: + 8 x 1 - 7.6/90.
Naval service: Panay was sunk by Japanese aircraft 12.12.1937. Oahu 6.5.1942 was scuttled at Corregidor to avoid capture.
